We are looking for a virtualization specialist to join our busy and dynamic team based in our Richmond Hill, Toronto service office.
Why we need you:
You’ll be contributing to the overall design and standardization efforts within the virtualization team by assisting with data center capacity, configuration, and growth planning. You’ll also be developing and documenting standards in the areas of configuration, provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, installation and compliance.
Who are we looking for:
You’ll be monitoring relevant for availability and performance and respond to alerts to meet business objectives and service levels so shown experience VMWare System Administration is meaningful along with experience with VMware tools including ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, vRealize and other virtualization technologies and concepts.
You’ll possess a deep understanding of VMware core components and their relation to storage and networking, and be proficient in datacentre design methodologies as you’ll be providing thoughtful review and guidance of compute configurations. You’ll be writing scripts and procedures for daily operations so strong verbal and written communication is essential.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is meaningful as you’ll be collaborating with storage and network teams in design, performance optimization and capacity planning. Along with this, experience with Windows and Linux operating systems is important.
You’ll also have practical hands-on networking (knowledge on configuring access and core routers and switches) and systems administration experience along with strong Hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, cabling and internet protocols such as BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, LDP, RSVP etc. and Layer 2 protocols.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex issues in order to maintain and support production environments consisting of VMWare. You’ll also be applying security best practices and building/managing new hypervisors so you’ll need to understand backup and recovery methodologies.
