The role: Senior Manager, Group Tax
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Group Tax to join our busy and dynamic Tax team based in our Toronto Headquarters.
Why we need you:
You will be responsible, under the direction of the Associate Director of Group Tax, for the preparation of all tax elements of the Group’s consolidated financial statements and annual report in accordance with IFRS, including all tax related disclosures, working closely with the corporate finance team in Toronto and segmental heads of tax.
You will coordinate and help to develop the Group’s tax reporting and related SOX controls processes, as well as, leading key technical tax accounting matters. This role requires you to own the Canadian tax compliance processes, including FAPI and surplus calculations and all Canadian tax controversy and advisory work.
You will lead and maintain the relationship with the external auditors ensuring their queries are resolved and the audit process runs smoothly. While also taking the lead for the timely and accurate forecasting of the Group ETR.
You will need to keep up to date with latest developments in Canadian tax and tax reporting and be able to provide clear guidance on their implications for the group.
Who are we looking for:
You’ll be a qualified tax professional (with an accounting qualification) with relevant post qualified experience, ideally including time in a senior in-house role. You will have excellent IFRS accounting and tax reporting knowledge, as well as, Canadian corporate tax experience, including transfer pricing.
The role requires you to have the ability to distil complex tax technical situations into practical and implementable guidance for management. Alongside, experience working closely with international finance and tax teams and developing and maintaining relationships with external advisors, group auditors and tax authorities.
You will be confident in your approach, with good communication skills, and able to readily gain the confidence of finance teams and Group management. A need to have good awareness of the evolving international tax environment following BEPS and subsequent OECD proposals is important.

Good awareness of indirect tax issues is desirable.
