The role: Network Operations Engineer

We are looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join our busy and dynamic team based in our Isle of Man service office.

Why we need you: -

As part of the Network Operations team you will be managing, maintaining and supporting critical network devices, appliances, servers, and hyper-converged infrastructure throughout the entire Stars Group global infrastructure.

You`ll manage NetOps owned assets in response to service or configuration change requests. You`ll perform installation and base configuration of new equipment as well as equipment upgrades and re-provisioning of equipment. You`ll liaise with 3rd party suppliers for hardware/software procurement. You`ll perform proactive monitoring of key metrics to pre-empt and mitigate issues. The team is following an on-call rota to provide 24x7x365 cover.

Who are we looking for: -

You have at least 3 years’ experience working with industry standard network providers (Cisco/Juniper) or 3 years` experience of Virtualisation platforms. You are a self-starter with ability to progress with minimal supervision and willingness to learn and adapt.

You have deep knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and OSI model. You have good knowledge and understanding of the components present in enterprise networks (Firewall/Switch/Load Balancers/IPS). You have good understanding of network architecture, application architecture, and interoperability of each with one another.

You are results focused with excellent communication skills and good diplomacy skills. You can work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

As the ideal candidate, you will have: -

You are certified in Cisco, VMware, F5, Citrix products. You have some experience in ISP networking environments including BGP, ISIS, MPLS. You have knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Perl).
