The role: Manager, IT Internal Controls

We are looking for a Manager, IT Internal Controls to join our busy and dynamic Internal Controls team based in our Toronto Office. The ability to travel with a strong interest in national and international Group travel is essential (expected 40-60%) for this role.

Why we need you:

You will carry out internal control SOX reviews and audits in the areas of IT infrastructure, processes, applications, operations, information security and emerging technologies. You’ll conduct reviews with a primary focus on IT General Controls and IT Application Controls using the COBIT framework and in adherence to the IIA professional standards.

You will have ownership of all aspects of the review including planning, fieldwork, recommendations, client interactions, follow-ups and report writing. A need to develop and apply testing scripts and automation to streamline test execution is essential. The role requires a lot of travel across our Group offices. You will be able to foster strong working relationships with stakeholders of all levels.

You’ll recommend continuous improvements on internal controls tools, template, standards and methodologies, while working with the Senior Manager to develop and present risk-based annual IT audit plans. You will provide advisory services to business management on issues related to IT risk assessment, controls and governance, as well as, responding to external auditor queries and help to advance collection of PBC (Prepared by Client) requests.

Who are we looking for:

You will have extensive experience working in either IT Internal Controls/Audit and/or Big 4 accounting firm with experience in IT assurance at a senior or manager level. You’ll have the ability to interpret complex technical information, exercise professional judgement, and clearly articulate and influence outcomes through effective verbal and written communication.

You will have a post-secondary degree in an information technology related field such as computer science or IT management or suitable combination of education and experience. You will have CISA and/or CISSP designations and a deep understanding of inherent technology risks and the ability to translate these risks in business language.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster relationships with senior management.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

The CPA/CIA qualification and knowledge of audit assurance, governance and control frameworks such as COBIT, ISO and NIST, services organizational contracts (SOC) reporting standards are desirable.

Knowledge of application development including agile methodology, mobile, SQL, cloud, etc is a plus, as well as, information security, technical IT infrastructure and key infrastructure technologies (Windows/UNIX/Mainframe), databases (SQL, Oracle, DBA), networking. Middleware, Cloud and Cyber.
