The role: IP Paralegal

We are looking for an IP Paralegal to join our busy and dynamic team based in our Leeds Office.

Why we need you:

The IP department, a sub-department within the General Counsel’s Office, is a full-service department servicing all the IP needs of the business. It is responsible for all IP portfolios, including trade marks, patents, designs, copyrights and domains and the protection of those rights.

To fulfil its strategy of actively enforcing its intellectual property rights, it has invested in a licence of outstanding enforcement software and needs additional resource to operate that software every day.

In this role, you will undertake brand enforcement work primarily via this online software and will generally assist the IP department to protect The Stars Group’s intellectual property rights. This will include enforcement work targeting websites, online market places, app stores and social media platforms. In addition, you will assist our Trade Mark Attorney with formalities work in respect of our trade mark, copyright and patent portfolios.

You’ll also be preparing and filing online take-downs based on a range of intellectual property rights. As well as preparing cease and desist letters in respect of a range of intellectual property rights. You’ll assist legal counsel in preparing cases for further legal action to be taken arising from intellectual property rights infringements. You’ll also be involved in completing knowledge research for the IP department.

Who are we looking for:

We’re looking for you to have prior experience of working in intellectual property infringement. You’ll need excellent IT and communications skills and have an ability to work with minimal management and oversight.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

We’ll want you to have an LLM in Law or GDL. If you have the LPC qualification that’s a big plus too. We’ll ideally want you to have experience of online enforcement tools. Similarly, if you have experience of working in an online gaming company that’s also an advantage.

What’s in it for you?

The salary for this job is based on experience, so whilst we are not able to go into detail at this stage, we can say that we offer great salary packages and a discretionary annual performance bonus. We can also provide advice and dedicated assistance to those moving to Leeds.

We offer health and dental insurance for you, your partner and your children (if you all live at the same address). You can make the most of our personal interest allowance to learn something new or pursue a hobby. If you have a baby whilst you work for us, we will give you 1000 GBP as congratulations.

In addition to that, we provide the opportunity for a discounted gym membership.

Our in-house training and development team deliver fantastic support in terms of developing your skills and helping you progress your career.

What happens next?

We will aim to get back to you as soon as possible. If you meet the criteria, then we’ll invite you to a phone interview and if that goes well we’ll meet you for a face-to-face interview
