The role: Finance Manager - External Reporting
We are looking for a Finance Manager - External Reporting to join our busy and dynamic Finance team based in our Toronto Headquarters.
Why we need you:
As Finance Manager - External Reporting you will be responsible for the management/tracking of new/emerging IFRSs, preparation of accounting treatment memos including accounting for significant non-routine transactions, the management of quarterly goodwill impairment and going concern assessments, as well as other ad hoc projects. You will also assist in the review of public disclosure documents for consistency with IFRS requirements.
You’ll draft accounting policy memorandums/position papers for all complex non-routine transactions, and performance of related SOX controls (ie: debt re-financings, business combinations, joint ventures etc.). While also, reviewing accounting policies of acquired subsidiaries compliant with global accounting policies and IFRS standards and assist in transitioning policies to group policies as required.
This role requires you to coordinate quarterly and annual goodwill impairment and going concern assessments, and related SOX controls, including direct involvement and project management with divisional finance teams and financial planning and analysis team. As well as, preparing good quality working papers for internal reviews and for external auditors as required (Accounting memos, IFRS transition working papers etc.).
You will have involvement in system implementations, including development and review of conversion testing. While, also tracking of IFRS and other regulatory changes (SEC/OSC) on a quarterly basis to ensure disclosure materials prepared reflect the latest standards and regulations as well as upcoming changes.
You’ll work on continuous improvement projects through research of best practices among industry peers and notable global technology companies. As well as, assisting in the review of public disclosure documents such as the interim and annual financial statements, management discussion & analysis, and earnings press releases. You will required to build strong, positive and influential relationships with external auditors and other stakeholders (ie, divisional finance teams and other corporate groups).
Who are we looking for:
You will have significant post-designation experience in a public company reporting, accounting or public company client background. This role requires you to have working experience and knowledge in IFRS and in systems such as SUN GL and consolidation and reporting systems like Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Reporting, as well as disclosure management tools such as Workiva.
You’ll have previous experience working in SOX environment and have the CPA, CA designation. This role requires you to have the ability to work in a highly dynamic fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines, while also having strong knowledge of financial accounting processes, policies and systems. You will have a strong sense of ethics, be a team player, have strong attention to details and excellent communication and analytical skills.
You should have solid experience in Microsoft Office packages with willingness to learn and contribute in improving current processes. You will be well organized, proactive and autonomous with a good sense of judgement, while also being able to build strong lasting relationships.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
Experience in the online gaming industry or a large international business is desirable.
