The role: DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our busy and dynamic team based in our Leeds service office.

You’ll be part of the Stars Group  tech family, working with the best product and technology professionals, learning new skills and developing yourself in new ways.

We have VMs running RHEL, AWS serverless code, and containers.  We run NodeJS, Java, Kotlin, some PHP and Ruby.   So the more of those you are familiar with, the better.  Your responsibilities include:

  • leading on operational matters within the squad
  • leading on automation work and driving best practice on non-functionals
  • ensuring the squad completes patching and security tickets
  • leading on scaling and preparation for big events
  • ensuring the squad has good visibility of their estate

Who are we looking for: -

You’ll work within a fast-paced and autonomous squad of roughly a dozen.  You’ll advise them on how to build better products and guide them on supporting and running their applications.  You’ll be the go-to expert on:

  • automation and infrastructure-as-code
  • non-functional parameters and how to build good applications
  • security and stability and the code patterns that produce it
  • release strategies
  • monitoring and in-life problem solving
  • continuous improvement

 As the ideal candidate, you will have: -

You have good practice in monitoring and alerting and in infrastructure-as-code environment. You are proficient in at least one scripting language and you administred Linux systems. You have good practice in system security and have appreciation of non-functional requirements and testing. You have deep understanding of networks and environments.

You`ll collaborate with different teams for patching, SECOM tickets and other operational matters. You`ll encourage NFR appreciation in inceptions and design. You`ll gain in-depth knowledge on how our systems work in order to provide high quality on-call support. As part of the team you`ll be an advocate for automation, monitoring and testing tools.
