The role: Department Head of UX Architecture

We are looking for a Department Head of UX Architecture to join our busy and dynamic Product Management team in our Leeds office.

Why we need you:-

As the Department Head of UX Architecture, you will be responsible for securing quality UX deliverables within your team which respond to the needs of both product and development teams. You will lead others through example and collaborate in creating simple & engaging user experiences within a complex industry. You will also take time to understand the performance side of design, our regulated markets and the business aspects of the products.  The role will require consideration for product consistency and player experience across all channels and touch points. You will work closely with the Department Head of UI Design and contribute to the overall design guidelines to secure consistent and seamless experiences for customers.  Although this role still requires some hands on UX design work, the Department Head of UX Architecture will be required to lead the UX Architects and ensure consistency, best practice and knowledge is shared across all projects. 

You have a deep knowledge and understanding of information architecture and interaction design across a variety of devices, touch-points and platforms. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and cross platform consistency, considering users who interact across more than one platform. You will be an advocate for user research, championing the involvement of customers during product design and development, ensuring insights are shared with UI, product and developer counterparts, and are considered as well as iterated during the design & development phases. 

A need to ensure pain points and unmet needs are obtained and addressed is important, whilst also being well-versed in modern UX research methods. You will work closely with the Group’s UX Research team helping to plan, prioritise and assist with all aspects of research.

You’ll come into the role with a fundamental understanding of UCD and extensive experience as a UX practitioner embedding this within working processes with your product peers. A need to be able to demonstrate experience helping global brands design and deliver digital products and services. You’ll have a strong desire to co-create (with customers and internal teams), and experience facilitating this type of collaboration, as well as, experience managing a small team yet still have a real passion for hands-on design.

You will ensure your team iterates on the UX deliverables and adapts these to the product, developer and research needs as the projects require. This role will require you to recruit, lead and mentor a small team of UX Architects instilling a collaborative culture and prioritising work load appropriately. You will also be required to help instill collaborative working with product, business stakeholders and developers and influence embedding UCD into an agile process.

Who are we looking for:-

You will have significant experience working as an in-house UX Practitioner with comprehensive understanding of user centered design. Experience of being an integral part of a UX team within an in-house environment, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams with designers, product managers and developers.

You’ll have experience leading a small team, be an effective communicator and willing team player. This role requires you to have experience designing solutions for all channels (responsive and native), while also being well versed in Axure, Sketch and other UX/prototyping tools. Technical knowledge of front-end mobile and web technologies is also essential.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:-

Experience working in the online gaming or other regulated industry and working on products/brands across different geographies and countries is desirable.
