Data Scientist

Job Type:
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

We are looking for a Data Scientist join our busy and dynamic team based in our Toronto Office.

Why we need you: -

We’re looking for you to network with domain experts to better understand the business mechanics that generated the data. You’ll be tasked with understanding and analyzing corporate data, whilst you document and visualize statistical analysis of corporate information. You’ll design a few NLP ML models applying various approaches (word embedding, doc embedding, BERT, Flair, etc.) as well as analyze and compare effectiveness of the models from different angles (accuracy, speed, resource allocation, maintenance, monitoring, etc.).

We’ll look for you to use cross-validate model performance and employ cloud solutions to train the models in reasonable time frame. You’ll implement NLP ML algorithms in production. In addition, architect production data pipe-line and architect model monitoring solution in production environment. We’ll also task you with the design post-production model improvement plan.

Who are we looking for: -

You’ll have at least two real-live ML projects under your belt, you’ll be an authority in Natural Language Processing, as it’s a central focus and is a huge plus for the role.

You’ll have a deep understanding of the ML project lifecycle, starting from the model training to the production deployment of the model and the data pipe-line. You’ll need to have a deep understanding of the traditional NLP approaches too (BOW, TF-IDF, N-grams, SVM) as well as the NN-based approaches: CNN, LSTM NN. We’ll want you to be familiar with the cloud-based AI solutions, particularly in the context of the model training. We also will find it very desirable (but most likely not possible to find at the moment) if you are someone with an understanding of Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT). If you’ve got that then, WOW!

We’ll be looking for you to understand the Python ecosystem (numpy, pandas, Tensorflow, Keras, scikit-learn, nltk) and you’ll have a strong educational background, most likely an M.Sc. in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics or Engineering.

However, if your education is not in the field of the data analytics, then additional training is helpful (graduate certificate in ML or ML boot camp, etc.)

 What’s in it for you?

The salary for this job is based on experience, so whilst we are not able to go into detail at this stage, we can say that we offer great salary packages and a discretionary annual performance bonus.

We offer health and dental insurance for you and your dependents plus you can join our company pension scheme.
